The trip (part IIa of III) - amazing structures and beautiful buildings
Friday, March 10, 2006

There's really too much to blog for Montreal so i shall split into 2entries - day and night.
So here you go...

The tour group headed to Ottawa (capital of Ontario) after picking up all the passengers. Royal Mint is our 1st destination to see how coins are made from Gold and Silver. cameras are not allowed so I can't take picture of the megasize gold bar. How i wish that they'll give us a door gift (golden keychain or smtg) each since they keep emphasizing how expensive the gold bar cost. Manage to weigh myself in terms of Gold-units. Yeah... indeed i worth quite alot of gold. As for the exact amount, i prefer to keep it to myself. *sshh joo*

Then we went to visit the Parliament building. Alright... this sounds boring but what can we do since we are following a tour group. Guess what, we enjoyed the architecture so much that we keep snapping. 30mins flew passed just like that. Right behind the Parliament is Lake Ottawa. Look at the frozen lake...Fortunately, we went a week later for this trip because my frens who went a week earlier were freezing, especially at Quebec.
Right across the lake is Quebec Province. Didnt expect them to be so near. Seems like Singapore and Johor Bahru (Malaysia) but only a more scenic view and a colder climate. We have just travelled from the Ontario province to Quebec, where the locals speak French

View of Ottawa skyline is magnificent. Extremely beautiful... The pictures seem so heavenly because the frozen lake seems like we are among the cloud. (click on the picture for bigger view) The parliament building can be seen from this side too. Ottawa, the capital of CANADA, belongs to 2provinces.

As tourist, you not only get to visit the parliament building, but also the.... MUSEUM :P. and so we were at the Civilization Museum. Once again, it sounds boring but this is different. They have characters around the museum, dressing up and acting like people living in that era. Live explanation of History... They even play along when u asked "can we take a picture at that table?", she'll reply "yeah, i just cleaned up the house. i like the house to be clean. hang your coat there first." Check the colourful ceiling (painted by different nations) at the bottom right pic.
Finally at MONTREAL CITY - one of the most popular cities in the world. Went to 2 churches that day. Firstly, Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal (can't rem if it's the oldest or the tallest church). Many people claimed that this church has healed many crippled miraculously and so we will see crutches and wheelchairs lying around because the sick and physically-challenged believers walked out of the church healthily.

The other church is the most beautiful one in Canada - Basilique Notre-Dame. The interior design is so intricate and i'm totally speechless when i saw it. Celine Dion actually held her wedding here. Sweet and romantic... The exterior may look plain but now, i totally understand the idea of "not judging a book by its cover". It's so hard to get a good picture. In the end, i chose a mode that focus on scenery than people - one big sacrifice for me bcos my face can't be seen clearly. boohoo :(

How can i miss out the peerrrfffeeectttt lunch we had. Chinese buffet which cost us $14cad. So much chinese food that im indeed spoilt-for-choice. Sushi, wanton soup, stir fried vegetables, seafood, dim sum etc. Im a happy girl. lalala~ The bad thing is.. or rather the worst thing that can happen during a buffet is, time constraint. How can i be satisfied with only 1 hr of eatin? We were rushing like mad. Guessed i had indigestion and was having constipation for days. heehee!

We visited this place called Biodome de Montreal. Nothing interesting about seeing 4different ecological habitats. Still it's good to see greeneries after 3months. Sometimes, it's boring to see whiteness everywhere.

We took Funiculaire (cable car in French) to the highest point to catch the entire view of the city. Hmm, i still prefer the view from CN Tower. Probably it's bcos of the price i paid.

A really tiring day and we slept so much on the bus to recover from the sleepless night. Journey seems pretty much shorter. Finally, Free-and-easy time is about to come... no more rushing for the day.
