Mongolian grill
Monday, January 30, 2006

MONGOLIAN GRILL!!!! I've always wanted to visit this restaurant. There's is this area right beside our school which has all restaurants selling all different kinds of cuisine, ktv lounges and pubs. We call it the University Plaza. And so the famous Mongolian Grill is just one of the few restaurants which i wanted to try since the 1st wk of school and by default, it's a mini-celebration for Swepna's 21st bday. Kill 2birds with 1stone.

ok, so we have to pay abt $15CAD to enjoy a sumptous buffet. The procedure goes like this...
1) you grab a bowl and choose the pasta we like. Add the type of meat you would like to go with your pasta. Next, choose the vegetables. Of course, if you wanna make your food tasty, we have to scoop some chopped garlic into the bowl
2) Afterwhich. choose the type of sauce we prefer. Apparently, they have more than 10 different kinds(teriyaki, bbq, mongolian fire, thai chili, curry, szechuan etc). It'll be our own fault if the food do not turn out well. But after much experience, i realize that the key to a tasty bowl of 'mixture' will be to add bbq with teriyaki. nothing can go wrong with those 2sauces
3)Queue along the side of the huge circular grilling pan and wait for the staff to get the bowl from you and start grilling your food by flipping it on the pan and showing stunts such as tossing the bowls. Well, guess this restaurant has high maintainence cost bcos i saw alot of broken bowls on the floor.
4)As you anticipate for the cooked food in the midst of fragrance, The staff has skilfully slide all the food into the bowl with 2 reali long sticks.
All these are done in less than 5mins!!! YUMMY...

There is also a salad bar and and unlimited serviing of soup. Im really into soup ever since i come to canada. It's really shiok to have something warm running down your throat in this cold weather. Cream of brocoli
and chicken noodle are my favourites!

So here i am with Daphne at our 3rd serving (not inclusive of the amount of soup and salad i already had). But im really not adventurous so my 3servings taste about the same.

Was telling my landlord and her friends that i only had 3servings, thinkin that they'll laugh at me for eatin so little during buffet. BUT their reply was "WHAT?!?!?! I've never seen anyone eatin so much. normally it's just 1big bowl or 2. You should join a competition" OOPS. im doom. Apettite has increased so much unconsciously.

So a mini surprise for Swepna is a tub of ice cream which kailin and i had bought earlier on. We spent awhile to decorate the icecream with M & M and tried to have the work SWEP on it. But the lighted candle destroy our masterpiece. So the 3waitress brought out the icecream and it came along with them singin a song which i can't really hear. Swepna insisted that she wants a picture of herself either feeding someone or being fed by someone. And kailin 'willingly' volunteered to feed her. Guess it's their culture bcos i saw something like that at my landlord's house and also at Sim's 21st bday party.

Alright, so that's the whole gang who went to Mongolian grill. Hmm, another satisfying meal. Will try out more restaurants at the university plaza soon.

Happy Lunar New Year
Saturday, January 28, 2006

Was trying to plan for something interesting or at least get some Lunar New Year atmosphere at BORING WATERLOO. Wanted so much to visit Toronto once again this wkend because the city is more crowded. However, we couldn't find 'free' accommodation and since we really can't afford to spend more unncessary money... the idea was dropped. There goes my Chinese-food exhibition at toronto. Sigh...

I bet everyone back in Singapore is excited to wear their new clothes for house-visits while married couples prepare red packets to be given out... BUT, I'M GETTING NONE OF THOSE!!! BOO.

Hope the new year won't be so lonely. Will check out some chinese steamboat restaurant ard the area. The canadians called it "hot pot". but come to think of it... steamboat sounds meaningless. a boat with steam???

ok, shall dedicate something to my supportive mum and dad and beloved granny back in Singapore. Shall imagine my presence alright?! hope everyone is doing fine. Check out the picture... heehee.. "GONG XI FA CAI"... Remember to keep my ang bao in a safe place. i'll claim it when im back. muahahaa.. ok, enjoy the reunion! I miss playin mahjong durin this period... shall influence the whites to play so i can find khaki easily next time Posted by Picasa

Trip to TORONTO (part 2)
Friday, January 27, 2006

Just recalled that it's hard to visualize the jacuzzi which i mentioned in the previous post. Anyway, the day view from the jacuzzi room is real beautiful. See the wooden box by the corner? it's where the tub is... my gosh... can't imagine how relax it can b just to lie there for hours, at the comfort of your own house, without afraid that others might be angry that you hog the 'facility' for too long.

ok, pack to my day2-tour. we started off by taking pictures of those big houses on the hill. it was snowing really heavily that our itinery will somehow fail. Can't take much pictures on our way to the station the ground is slippery, the weather is too cold and "train-waits-for-no-man'. Wonder if you guys can see the snow on the pics. Snowing is so common nowadays. Still remember how excited i was when i first felt it falling on my cheeks. nehz... i can't wait to see more Mr. Sunny now.

We reach there on time but the GO-train was late. yeah, Rouge Hill was where we stayed. Typical tourists like us enjoy taking pictures at anythin and everything.. such as the train station. other than that, more than half our journey was spent on taking pics. The photo at the right-hand-corner shows the view of Lake Ontario behind us. yeah, we are all set to start our free-and-easy tour at TORONTO...

Our 1st stop was at this station called "christie". I They even have a "Jane" station. But anyway, we went to "Little Korea" because Joo misses her hometown-food and was craving for Kimchi. Was searching for a nice korean bbq but due to budget constraint, we ended up at some simple-looking store as the prices of those more nicely-furnished ones are kind of steep. haha. At the end of the meal, there's no additional charges for TAX->a pleasant surprise! By the way, all the eating places in canada require us to pay TIPS of 15% and it is kinda compulsory and it's therefore a total of 30% extra.. And since we are prepared to pay for that, we indeed gave a generous amount of 15% tips though they didnt ask for it. heehee... "lao zi you qian".. muahaha

Since the weather had turned really good, we want to save on transport and sincee all the places that we wanna vist are so near to one another... might as well walk to immerse into the culture. haha.

So we Q.C a few buildings and took pictuers with the ones which we think are nicer and more unique. Some indeed look like a castle. can't wait for my U.K trip to visit those magnificent structures. The picture on the right-hand corner is part of University of Toronto. Darn.. it's so beautiful...*you'll understand why i say that when i show you pictures of university of waterloo*

We headed to Bata shoe museum. Kailin told me that B.A.T.A = Buy And Throw Away. We thought the museum shows all the collection of shoes from the shop BATA. But apparently, it's this lady called Sonja Bata who has been collecting footwear in the 1940s and thus decided to showcase her ever-increasing collection in this museum. Today, this museum actually keeps shoes which belong to famous people - from royalty to religios figures, sports heroes to artists blah blah blah. The pair of shoes from the top left corner was worn by Princess Diana while the one on the top right corner was by Ronald McDonald's. The picture in the centre shows the door knob with their museum's logo carved on it. so antique... There are so many
weirds shoes - really high one that can reach your hips, leafy ones, coiled ones and many others WHICH SEEM 'UNWEARABLE'.

We found this corner which they have all types of shoes which are free for us to try on. Though it sounds nothing special but the gals are having so much fun switching to different types of shoes and snapping picture. Haha.. i love the ah-go-go slippers. My feet are big lah.. cannot fit into some so limited options.

4levels of shoe-exhibits is no joke. haha. But if you really read all the caption, i guess you can learn alot and which is what kailin did.

I don't even know that shoes can vary soooo much. manage to see Cinderella's glass slippers. so sweet... Some other tinny winnie shoes, porcelain shoes etc

can't afford to spend too much time since we made a reservation at CN tower. Anyway, they are just shoes. Don't have to take longer than a glance.

Whooosh... we headed to Chinatown..... Sigh.. i was sooooo disappointed.. was expecting the exact same atmosphere like what we have in Singapore when it should be really crowded this period. nah.. can't
even find my favourite pineapple tart and mini popiah. Pui.. so lousy.. I even wanted to get all my "nian huo"(lunar new year stuff) but they don't even have a decent shop which sells those. Rows of chinese restaurant are what they used to define "Chinatown"? ok, so as not to make a wasted trip, we bought 15mandarin oranges, egg tarts and 'you char kway". Boohoo.. i miss my homeland...

well, to show that i had really went to Chinatown, here are the pictures as evidence. We are just amazed by how tall CN tower is. So we just took a few shots of it from Chinatown. Can't wait to walk there asap.

yeap, so here we are at CN tower. We have done our homework and knew that we don't have to pay admission charge to get up to the peak of the tower IF we have dinner at their revolving restaurant called '360 restaurant'. Since it's a wiser choice as compared to paying to go up and down we go agn, we chose tt option. The night before, kailin was telling us that her hallmate suggest that we can climb up by stairs and we can save the admission fee of $28CAD. Well, it's 115storeys but why not? Throughout the whole nite, we keep ourselves mentally and physically prepared but we feel so stupid to realize that all these are just lies... damn! NOTHING OF THAT SORT...

Anyway, we made a wise choice to reach there at about 4:30pm to catch
both the day and night view. it's really picturesque though dap was saying that it's no difference from swissotel. ["it's all in the mind" ~adapted from Mavis Toh]. The lift went up to abt 350m at the speed of 22km/hr. We took abt 61s to reach the restaunt. Arghhhh, why i sound so... ok, nvm...

We can't help taking pictures but the patient waiter has raelly good service. We are so busy snapping and forget all about ordering of food and still trouble the waiter to take picture of us. It's a posh restaurant afterall. It's really bad enough to be 'under-
dressed' and yet we still behave like a 'mountain-tortoise'. 2storeys down will lead us to the glass bottom deck. Not as fantastic as i've thought. Mayb civil engineers have yet thought of a brilliant way to have the entire level made of glass. So it's only a small part of the entire deck. So we lied ard the floor and the cars below look like pieces of chocolate. haha

Finally, we settled down for dinner in the romantic atmosphere but from our perspective, it's a little too dim.
ok, perhaps it's just us who don't know how to appreciate. Still, the food was great. For the price that we are
paying, it should be good man! each of us paid ard $45CAD. = SIN$65. I didnt even spend so much on food when i was back in Singapore. What's on my mind?! It's for the experience.. once in a lifetime. it's all worthwhile <- ok, that's what i keep telling myself. The serving was so small and i was craving for ice-cream after that. And i was extremely satisfied with my dairy-queen ice-cream. i miss venezia gelato. That marks the end of our day 2... I didnt buy anythin that day but spend so much money. Sorry mum and dad!

P.S hey boy (brother), CN tower's was 'born' on 28th Oct. Though it's not the same year, you can still feel that there's certain connection when you see this signboard. haha. next time, Can celebrate your birthday there...

TRIP to TORONTO (Day 1)
Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The 6gals(swep, saranya, kailing, daphne, joo and me) had finally arrived at Toronto after 1hr journey on the typical yellow school bus seen on movies a.k.s the F.E.Ds Bus. The journey to and fro costs us $17cad which is the cheapest we can get in school. This bus is specially catered to students who are spending the wkend back home. After alightin at Islington station, we had to proceed to Union station via subway a.k.a MRT in Singapore. At Union Station, we decided to roam around the area since we reached earlier than expected.

So as we walked and explored, the beautiful and tall buildings, the bustling city and the nice view really made me regretted choosing waterloo as the latter has really nowhere interesting. It's not as if i did not try hard enough to find.. but trust me.. there's really nothin in Waterloo.

So that's the famous CN tower and we can't wait to visit it the next day. Ok, anyway, we tried to keep to our time so as not to miss the GO-train as it comes only in 1hr interval. Joanne (a friend who offered us accommodation) came just in time and yay!!!! We are finally heading home. The GO-train journey took us another 20mins to arrive at Rouge Hill and we were told that we have to walk 30mins uphill to reach our destination. Walking for 30mins doesn't matter to me anymore since i'm doing that every mornin when i go to school.

The funny thing is, throughout the whole journey, nobody check our train tix. Oh by the way, the GO-train tix cost about $4.75CAD per journey. This is so expensive for a public transport and we can't help it but to think of not buying the tix for the next trip. BUT, we still bought for subsequent journeys. Still, there's no one checkin. Check out the magnificent building with The carvings on the wall and the high ceiling at the train station.

Alright!!! Home sweet home! We are famished after a long afternoon of travelling. The best surprise is the whole table of Chinese food. Tofu, char siew, curry chicken, chinese style fried fish, RICE and long beans.. everythin was awesome! I ate 2times the amount i usually do... heehee.. Thanks uncle david and aunty Felicia for accommodatin us! They are the owners of the house. One is a manager and the other holds a high-rank status in the company. That explains their big house. As seen from the pictures, the house is rather long with one gound level and a huge basement. Oh, the house runs on septic system when the waste water from home are left to decompose by itself and not run through the pipe to the waste treatment plant immediately. As a result, the whole group of us can't bathe consecutively. It must be spread out(some in the day and some at night). ELSEEEEEEEE, the whole house will smell quite badly, but i have to emphasize that it's NOT BCOS of us but because of the waste water...

The touring of the first level. Apparently, the whole house took us abt 45mins as we keep taking nonsensical pictures at every corner - The toilet, the mirror, the fireplace, the staircase etc. Joo, sara and i chose the room on the first level despite knowing that it's qutie cold at night. But heck, that room looks really cosy and sicne i'm trained to sleep in cold weather even in my own house, so why not?! Oh, the house has a jacuzzi which can oversee the entire lake. oh my, wat a relaxing moment. But due to winter, it's hard to get water heated up over there, we miss the chance to use it.

Then we went to the basement where the rest of the gals will be sleeping. The basement has a garage, a "thermal room" which they use it as a study room, an empty corner which they want to convert it to a mini "pub" and another living room which they have their gym equippment and tv. Joanne's room is at the basement and it looks so cosy with sufficient privacy. Uncle david shocked us once we stepped into the house by sayin "close the door quickly! close the door. change to slippers! put your coat aside and come in!" nah... he's a nice host.. the picture in the middle shows our slippers. The floor is too cold to be walked on barefooted.

Haha, Huiying, i bet you'll love this... I was so amazed that joanne's has a nice collection of carebears in her room. They are "real stuff, cannot bluff". Trust me, it's not those cheapo pirated bears you can find in Thai. The carebears she bought are expensive. they are so adorable. The collection indeed made her room looks realli girly and warm... We had so much fun posing with the bears. The pictures turn out to be so colourful. I have the strong urge to collect them when i go back.

Ok after spending hours planning for our itinery for the next day, we head back to our room to retire. Joo's hair was still wet that she has to stand by the heater since she refuse to use a dryer. Well, i doubt it helps but as long as she feels gd abt it... ok, that pic of her won the best image of the day. well done!

more pictures to be uploaded soon

unlucky day after an awesome wkend
Monday, January 23, 2006

I'm back I'm back! But i guess i woke up on the wrong side of the bed after a wonderful wkend at toronto with the girls. Had <<a series of unfortunate events>>...

Woke up in the mornin, all ready to complete my tonnes of assignments which are gg to be due in 1-2days time. Wanted to enjoy a sumptous breakfast of baked beans, milo and a tuna sandwich. But... i OVER-TOASTED my very last 2pieces of bread. Since i was Unable to have charcoal for breakfast, i threw it away and replaced it with energy bar.

Ok, shall continue to stay cheerful since the day, as well as the week, has just started. Then i was ready for school and reminded myself to bring the tumbler so i can have warm water when i reached the campus. So glad that i indeed remember the tumbler. The happy girl can't wait to drink the warm water after the long walk in the cold weather. Shucks... the lid wasn't covered properly and the water wet all my bag and everythin in it was drenched. My notes, textbks, camera and handphone were all at risk. Notes and textbks are quite torn. I'm still optimistic, telling myself that at least the camera is fine... Taking the pieces of paper in my file one by one, trying to dry them... Finally, it's the end of the lesson and i can't wait to find a proper dryer to salvage my notes and book. The worst thing has came... I realized that my cellphone is not working anymore. Daphne helped me borrowed a hair dryer from her neighbour but the phone is not responding... Now i wonder how i'm going to wake up tmr mornin. Damn.. first was my laptop, now it's my mobile. What's next man?! I'll shower extra attention on my camera and ipod nano now.

Everythin else went on smoothly until i was about to reach home... i got off the bus and hit my head real hard on the door. That's really clumsy and hope nobody is laughin at how stupid i am. OK, the day has almost come to an end and i have not completed my assignment which is goin to be due tmr mornin... :(

p.s photos taken at Toronto will be uploaded soon after i have collected the pictures from everyone.

what happened during my 4hrs in school
Thursday, January 19, 2006

3weeks of school and the instructors are confirmin their test dates. so this is what i'm going to have:

13th Feb - Engineering professionalism
Transit planning and operation
14th Feb - Introduction to Psychology
15th Feb - Geotechnical engineering 2

what a nice valentine's day gift from the university!

ok, so back to my day in sch. in fact the mid term week starts on 13th feb. Most ppl would choose to have it as late as possible, isnt it. And so, the instructor from geotechnical class was asking our available dates for test and the canadians shouted out MONDAY - the very first day of the mid term week. Not only do i have 2tests scheduled that day, the time clashed with my other modules. sO I guessed im the only one. I raised up my hand and said i can't make it. At this point of time, this fat mama from the back of class shouted "skip it! you are the only one". Took a quick stare at her and was thinking that She's the worst canadian i've met so far. The kind instructor finally arranged another day for me - 15th fEB!!!

On a happier note, i met a super duper helpful soul at the library. by the way, the price of photocopying is atrocious. $0.10CAD per page + 15%taxes. HoWEver, i need to get some stuff photocopied bcos i refuse to buy the expensive textbk. tRYING to squeeze 2pages into 1 and this gives me a whole load of problem. IF I were to get help from the COPY CENTRE, they'll charge $0.09per page + $0.15 service charge = $0.27CAD per copy. WHAT THE HELL!!! service charge is more than the photocopying?!?! So i juz do it myself but it's so hard to get the desired printing which i wan. So here come the campus technician of about 50years old. He looks so fatherly to me. heehee. "i have to make sure this is working right. so u take my card and pay for the printin at the COPY CENTRE". OMGGGGG.. tt's soooo nice of him. well,i only p/copy 1chapter despite the initial 10chapters which i wanted. i refused to let the COPY CENTRE earn the service charge. After fixing the machine, while teaching me how to use it, he found 10cents on the ground. he picked it up and said "see, i got my $ money back from the printing". haha...

indeed a happy-go-lucky man... this really brightens up my day... oh what's more, the weather is so much better than yesterday. sunny and cool...
looking forward to wkend bcos the gals are spending 3days at toronto... can't wait man...

cheapppp buffet
Wednesday, January 18, 2006

Was at this joo's hostel since afternoon, knowing that her cafeteria will be serving "eat-all-you-can" pasta buffet at a resonably low price of $4 CAD... went down as early as 6pm for dinner and was surprised at the crowd because the place is rather dead on usual days.

The price is really cheap for a choice of vegetarian lasagna, beef lasagna, beef pasta, arrabiata and carbonara. and my favourite.. free flow of caesar salad.. yUMMY. Where on earth can we find such gd deal. Isn't it so cool to have buffet in school? dIdnt manage to add some illustration to my excitement and joy for this buffet bcos i was too hungry and forgot abt my camera. What a waste because this buffet spread only happens once a term.

Lookin forward to movie night later in their room. then im stayin over... too lazy to go home and really look forward to the "american" breakfast tmr mornin at the cafeteria. A good breakfast perks up my day... heehee.. check out the happy gal in her singlet and shorts. it has been so long since i get to walk ard in this. nice warm room... will definitely have a good sleep tonite!

Just remembered that i had forgotten about the backyard of my house. Though i've never been there bcos the weather is too cold to do so and thus i minimize the number of times to go outdoor. THE landlord said that during summer, the backyard is very useful.. sigh.. wrong time once again.

but today is a better time to take picture of the backyard. iT'S SNOWINGGGGG so heavily and the whole place is covered with white snow. extremely romantic. Anyway these were taken behind the windows... haha...effect is still gd.. hope you cna see the fallin snow.

The weather is rather bearable today but the occasional strong windchill can drive you nuts. i did a 5mins run to Joo's hall(vILLAGE 1) in a thin tee shirt, adidas jacket and track pants. So challengin... *im training myself to be prepared for the worse climate...

ok, movie time... !!!!

home 'SWEET' home
Tuesday, January 17, 2006

I bet HAMAYS had a great time at ying'en's bday dinner. was imagining that im there during lecture. haha. nah... ok, i tink my frens and family will be wantin to 'my accommodation'. heehee. Pondered for quite some time before i decide to show it bcos it's not my ideal kind of living but still... i'm trying hard to love it despite the little time i spend at home. So, before i proceed, let me remind you not to expect too much. It's not any cosy cottage or pretty houses we've seen on tv... Anyway, it's still a decent living. Joo and Sara who visited me said that it's me who is demanding bcos they feel that the house looks pretty great.
*************************let the tour begins************************

Let's start from the porch and the front view of the house. As i stayed at the landlord's house at Mississouga on my1st night, the lovely place caused an expectation of the same kind of standard. So i was rather disappointed when i saw the partially-furnished porch. Still rem the 1st day when i step onto that piece of land, the whole area is filled with snow and i had to shove it to the side. It's tiring but luckily, tt's the only time i had done it in this 2.5wks.

The is 1st thing i see when i stepped into the house - this flight of stairs will lead to the bedrooms of my 3housemates. They cook, watch t.v, chill out with beer and chips, spend wkends and had girlfriend-visits together. Sweet~This is the time when i miss CHAM and rem the great time we had in Thailand. That 7days really flew passed with nothing short of fun. Living together under one roof will indeed be another gd experience for us. haha. Hope there's a really big one to house CHAMAYS as well. heehee! didnt get a chance to take pictures of their bedrooms bcos the only time that i went upstair was after their invitation to try "shisha". It's pretty crazy bcos the weather is really cold that day and since the 3guys have a sudden urge for this, they hafta to it on the rooftop as the landlord forbid them to smoke at home. But it's so cool to own that equippment. *Shisha: an oriental tobacco pipe with a long flexible tube connected to a container where the smoke is cooled by passing through water; and it can be flavoured.

The living room is rather cosy but i spend very little time there. Feel intimidated when the 3guys are havin a fun time in that room drinking away, so i still prefer my bedroom. My main reason of gettin to the living room is to adjust the temperature of the heater. Guess wat? i will only do so aft my landlord is asleep bcos she doesnt want to pay the extra bill for higher temperature. But i can't help it. I hafta wear 2tops, 2bottoms, gloves and socks to sleep...

Next, i shall show the kitchen. The guys in the house cook so much more often than me. Pasta, fried rice, pizza, chicken blah blah blah. Pretty good catch but all taken. haha. Sometimes they stock up so much snacks in the kitchen which is soooo tempting. heehee! kitchen is pretty small... can't accommodate more than 3 ppl but it has everything you need for cooking, baking and storing. One of the few gd thing to stay here... save the trouble to bring pots and pans.

Now it's my bedroom!!! i would rather call it the "cold-room". I really think that it's the coldest place in the whole house. Alright, it's a little messy bcos im always rushing to go out in the mornin. I had tried my best to make it look cosy but this is the most i can do. If you realized, i don't haf a door for my wardrobe. Feel so exposed... I guess the landlord saw how unhappy i was with this "open-concept", she gave up her drawers for my sake.

********************end of tour***************************

the 10 "MUST-BRINGs" to school
Monday, January 16, 2006

I spend most of my time in school because most of my frens are stayin on-campus. So my bag needs to carry certain important things. I can't miss any of the stuff which will be mentioned below. So here they go . . .
***********************************************************************************************
1) A pair of gloves and a beanie
My hands and ears will turn cold within 5mins whenever i step out of the house. This is no joke man... You can't hold anythin when your hands are numb and i can feel the pain when the ears are expose to the cold wind after a while. it's as though they are going to fall off. Investing in a good pair of gloves and beanie is a must. i actually got my glove at $4CAD. And... i've learnt my lesson

2) GUESS down-feather jacket
Oh.. this is my best investment back in Singapore. Bought this from GUESS at $189.90. Thanks Mum! Reali love the design and my housemate's fren actually said that she loves my jacket...heehee.. The jacket is of top quality that i can go without my gloves and beanie with the hood to cover my ears and the side pocket to stuff my hands in. Marvellous...

3) ipod nano
Once again, i'd like to emphasize that i hafta walk 25-30mins to reach campus. So, this is my best entertainment. At times when im listening to Chinese songs, it'll make me feel like im back HOME(excluding the weather). Talking abt imagination... no matter how much i imagine myself to be in a sauna, the cold still exist. Anw, thanks sis Jul and Aunt winnie for the bday gift. I love it.thanks rongy and ShaIKH for the leather casing. The device is still free from scratches...

4) Energy bar: chocolate chip and marshmallow
It's so true that in the cold weather, you'll tend to feel hungry easily. Or rather, you just feel like munching smtg. So i stock up lotsa energy bar in my room and hafta bring at least 1 to school everyday so that i won't spend unnecessary money on snacks. The energy bar is reallly cheap, approx $3cad per box bcos it is "PRODUCT OF CANADA"

5) mini tumbler
HEY huiying, do you find this familiar? This can really keep my drinks warmer for a longer time. It's damn 'shiok' to put ur cold hands ard this to get warmth. A hot milo a day, keeps the cold away... thanks ex-roomie. The design on this tumbler is interesting... it shows how to make a cafe latte... reminds me of my ex-workplace - venezia.. hope their business is getting better at Singapore Arts Museum

6) Camera
I think i'm really addicted to taking pictures. i snap at almost anything and asking ppl to take pictures for me and of me. haha... I didnt realize i actually do this so often until G.D showed a videoclip of the different scenes in Thailand when i asked him for help to take picturess of me. Oooopss!

7) Candies
I don't understand why most of my lessons are 3hours at one go. out of 5modules which i took, 3of them are like that! The good thing is, these modules do not have any tutorials. So... i need to remind myself to replenish whenever i finish. Candies can really help to keep me awake during class.

8) WAT card
This is just like the matric card back in NUS. But this works like a cashcard within the campus. Students can use this card for printing, buying of food and use the different services and facilities offered by the university. If you were to look closer, that pic of me is really bad. one side of the head is actually bigger than the other. So the 'blurred' effect is intended... heehee

9) Cellphone
Friends are limited here. So need to call somebody who's in campus to accompany for the long break.. else i'll be spending hours doing nothin in the school. I really can't make myself to sit in the libary to study... guess i'll never try and never want to do that. Too lonely.. im on exchange... must haf fun almost every minute. haha

10) Lip balm

This was bought in Singapore and a tube of 2inches costs SIN$6.90. But it realli works... no cracks on lips till now.. worth buying...This must be applied every2hrs (if i remember to)... so it's definitely a must-bring to school.

P.S. It's 17th Jan 2006 back in Singapore... So, this is Ying'en's BIG DAY... hitting the double 2 is sooooo scary but i know she'll handle it well. haha.. i bet HAMAYS is having fun.. boohoo.. i wanna join them...boooo
Happy Bday to you, Happy bday to you, happy bday to YING'EN,
Happy bday to you!!!
