TOBOGGANING is wayyyyyyy cool.
Sunday, February 05, 2006

it hasn't been snowing for the past 2wks, or at least, it's not heavy enough. and my housemate, adam was saying that im really lucky as the norm for january is supposed to snow like crazy but it did not for yr 2006 and i survived.

And so TODAY... the long-awaited snow has finally been here. Woke up in the morning to realize that it's snowing "cats and dogs". A great chance for tobogganing!!! Oh by the way, tobogganing is basically sliding down a snow-covered slope on a tray (stole from the cafeteria). And apparently, there's one really steep slope within the campus and it's called the COLUMBIA ICE FIELD. The place is so pretty. The huge area covered entirely with snow but unfortunately, i didnt take any picture else the camera will be at risk when i slide down. Still, i took a pic to capture my excitement. That tray tt we are holdin is not as cool as it looks. it'll slow down your slide down the slope...

all thanks to my frens who are staying at WCRI for bringin trays for me. But still, i think they actually borrowed 9, but only 5 was returned eventually. (the rest was splited to 2)! so i started off with the beginner's slope which is 'no-kick'. Joo and i shall head straight to the steeper one(which is actually not much difference). haha! bUT still, we had lotsa fun sliding down and rolling on the snow upon reachin the bottom of the slope. Climbing back to the peak is real tiring after tobogganing for serveral times consecutively.

Other than going down the normal way (one person per tray and slide down individual), we can go down in a train (gather groups of frens to sit behind one another, legs grabbing ard the waist of the person infront while arms holding on to the legs of the person sitting behind you and ... DOWN YOU GO!). Some of the guys ran from a distance before plomping on the slope to maxmize the speed downwards. Build a small hill at the bottom of the slope to experience a slight upward propulsion before coming to a stop.

Wonder who started it but after a few slides, everyone started a snowball fight. There is even strategy to decide who to target and who's next to be rolled down the slope. So fun to 'fight' in the snow as everywhere is soft and cool.

I was bundled up really warmly but still, at the end of the day, my shoes and gloves were soaked ("Rongsheng, your gloves not as powerful as they look"). I've never heard of spray which can help to keep your shoes waterproof for 2wks. And so i borrowed from saranya. hmmm, it works but only for 1hr.

Tobogganing is such a great experience.. the next thing that i hope to do is a trip to niagara falls in winter...
