TRIP to TORONTO (Day 1)
Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The 6gals(swep, saranya, kailing, daphne, joo and me) had finally arrived at Toronto after 1hr journey on the typical yellow school bus seen on movies a.k.s the F.E.Ds Bus. The journey to and fro costs us $17cad which is the cheapest we can get in school. This bus is specially catered to students who are spending the wkend back home. After alightin at Islington station, we had to proceed to Union station via subway a.k.a MRT in Singapore. At Union Station, we decided to roam around the area since we reached earlier than expected.

So as we walked and explored, the beautiful and tall buildings, the bustling city and the nice view really made me regretted choosing waterloo as the latter has really nowhere interesting. It's not as if i did not try hard enough to find.. but trust me.. there's really nothin in Waterloo.

So that's the famous CN tower and we can't wait to visit it the next day. Ok, anyway, we tried to keep to our time so as not to miss the GO-train as it comes only in 1hr interval. Joanne (a friend who offered us accommodation) came just in time and yay!!!! We are finally heading home. The GO-train journey took us another 20mins to arrive at Rouge Hill and we were told that we have to walk 30mins uphill to reach our destination. Walking for 30mins doesn't matter to me anymore since i'm doing that every mornin when i go to school.

The funny thing is, throughout the whole journey, nobody check our train tix. Oh by the way, the GO-train tix cost about $4.75CAD per journey. This is so expensive for a public transport and we can't help it but to think of not buying the tix for the next trip. BUT, we still bought for subsequent journeys. Still, there's no one checkin. Check out the magnificent building with The carvings on the wall and the high ceiling at the train station.

Alright!!! Home sweet home! We are famished after a long afternoon of travelling. The best surprise is the whole table of Chinese food. Tofu, char siew, curry chicken, chinese style fried fish, RICE and long beans.. everythin was awesome! I ate 2times the amount i usually do... heehee.. Thanks uncle david and aunty Felicia for accommodatin us! They are the owners of the house. One is a manager and the other holds a high-rank status in the company. That explains their big house. As seen from the pictures, the house is rather long with one gound level and a huge basement. Oh, the house runs on septic system when the waste water from home are left to decompose by itself and not run through the pipe to the waste treatment plant immediately. As a result, the whole group of us can't bathe consecutively. It must be spread out(some in the day and some at night). ELSEEEEEEEE, the whole house will smell quite badly, but i have to emphasize that it's NOT BCOS of us but because of the waste water...

The touring of the first level. Apparently, the whole house took us abt 45mins as we keep taking nonsensical pictures at every corner - The toilet, the mirror, the fireplace, the staircase etc. Joo, sara and i chose the room on the first level despite knowing that it's qutie cold at night. But heck, that room looks really cosy and sicne i'm trained to sleep in cold weather even in my own house, so why not?! Oh, the house has a jacuzzi which can oversee the entire lake. oh my, wat a relaxing moment. But due to winter, it's hard to get water heated up over there, we miss the chance to use it.

Then we went to the basement where the rest of the gals will be sleeping. The basement has a garage, a "thermal room" which they use it as a study room, an empty corner which they want to convert it to a mini "pub" and another living room which they have their gym equippment and tv. Joanne's room is at the basement and it looks so cosy with sufficient privacy. Uncle david shocked us once we stepped into the house by sayin "close the door quickly! close the door. change to slippers! put your coat aside and come in!" nah... he's a nice host.. the picture in the middle shows our slippers. The floor is too cold to be walked on barefooted.

Haha, Huiying, i bet you'll love this... I was so amazed that joanne's has a nice collection of carebears in her room. They are "real stuff, cannot bluff". Trust me, it's not those cheapo pirated bears you can find in Thai. The carebears she bought are expensive. they are so adorable. The collection indeed made her room looks realli girly and warm... We had so much fun posing with the bears. The pictures turn out to be so colourful. I have the strong urge to collect them when i go back.

Ok after spending hours planning for our itinery for the next day, we head back to our room to retire. Joo's hair was still wet that she has to stand by the heater since she refuse to use a dryer. Well, i doubt it helps but as long as she feels gd abt it... ok, that pic of her won the best image of the day. well done!

more pictures to be uploaded soon
