oooh.... Just received call from mummy and daddy and we talked for about 15mins...felt so loved and kind of homesick wheneva i hear their voices. nah... mushy. Everything will b back to normal as my adventure continues the next mornin... haha (sorry mum and dad).. But still, i do miss home, miss CHAM, miss progistics, miss Perfect Combo, miss the sunny and warm weather etc etc.
ok, went for ktv just now. The locals pronounced it as "ker-ri-o-key" and some feel that by calling it "ktv" is quite cool. haha. I'm so surprised that they have chinese songs. 2hours for $8CAD(no drinks included)... quite reasonable... Though KTV places look roughly the same, we still took quite a number of pics. will upload once i get them.Ok, my laptop is officially back to normal after struggling for quite some time. It really gave me a hard time and luckily, i didnt give up. i was basically flipping open every keys on the keyboard, cleaning up and checking out wat's wrong(as recommended by Joo). FINALLY, i found the culprit and it's the down-arrow button. Check out how ugly-looking the laptop is.. the down-arrow key has to be permanently be pressed down so i stuffed a folded piece of paper below the scotchtape. Yucks! okok, shan't complain... "come on lappy, at least be good for the next 4months yah?"
ok, now look at the plain looking keyboard which cost $29.99CAD (not inclusive of taxes). Oh, did i mention that everything here is taxed. And it's an unreasonable sum of 15%. And they don't show the price after taxation on the price list. You will only know it upon payment and is shown on the receipt. This happens for all kinds of items here: restaurants, supermarkets, convenient stall, campus, leisure, shopping malls, FOODCOURTS(ya, it's foodcourt and im sure if i see coffeeshop here, it'll be the same case). That's so irritatin but im sure i'll get used to it after awhile.
If you were to look closely at the pic, there's a bk on the top left corner. Ya, that's one of my textbk. It's only the 2nd week man!tonnes of work piling up... Students here are so hardworkin and their inquisitiveness in class is so threatening. darn... People always tell me that engineering is very busy and tough but i don't really think so when i was back in NUS (or is it just us, huiying?), at least it's still manageable.
enough said for the day... need to complete a chapter of reading before i pass the bk to Joo. Yes, we share this bk as textbks here are terribly expensive. i Just spent $120 CAD for a particular module . This is disgusting! if i knew this earlier, I would have brought more bks with me to sell to locals. Anyway, for another module which i took, i decided to borrow from the library and had already use 5different identities to reserve the bks all the way till exam. haha... "kiasu-ism" but can't blame me. it's so heartaching to spend SIN $150 on a textbk. i guess The locals here are too used to it that i never hear them uttering a word of complain. Beta let me fetch a gd price when i attempt to sell it at the end of the semester... :( Leaving alone is really not easy- Have to budget yourself and plan your finance carefully.
